Bourbon and Baker

A great place in downtown Manhattan, KS to grab dinner, drinks, and even dessert! The menu has a little bit for everyone and several items that are perfect to share!

Driving down Poyntz Ave. in Manhattan, KS you will see the red double B's lighting up the sky. In a way, it is kind of like the bat signal, but in Manhattan, it is signaling you to really good food. Oh, and really good bourbon! Bourbon and Baker started as a sister restaurant to another townie favorite, Harry's. The same amazing food, but in small plates. It is the perfect place to go when everyone wants something different. This is a place where there is literally something for everyone.

While the restaurant isn't big, trust me it is worth the wait! There is a variety of tables and booths for small or large groups to sit throughout the space. The wait staff is great at explaining the menu and the variety of options to choose from. They say that choosing two or three small plates is filling and normally they are right! We mix and tend to steal bites from each other's plates as well.

The atmosphere is amazing!

For the most part, the menu stays the same, they do change it up every so often and they always have an evening special. On this trip, the asparagus on the left and watermelon on the right are some of their new offerings. As usual, they crushed it! I have now had the asparagus three times, I don't even offer to share them anymore, they are all mine!

Some local favorites are the Brussel Sprouts with Bacon and the Fried Bologna Sandwich.

If you have a sweet tooth you are probably wondering where the Baker comes in. In the back of the restaurant is where they do all the baking for not only Bourbon and Baker but Harry's and the Tap House. Sweet treats from cookies, pies, and their famous deli brownies! During the holiday's many people stop for fresh-baked rolls and cookie decorating kits for the family. If you are lucky enough to get a cinnamon roll with the bourbon frosting, two words, DO IT!! They are huge cinnamon rolls and you can easily get four servings out of one pan.

I always try one thing new when we go, I think small plates gives you the perfect opportunity to try a new dish. I hope you enjoy your your dinner, drinks and desserts! Comment with your favorites, if it is one I have not tried I will put it on my list!!
