Manhattan, Kansas, honors the Legendary Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a mural in Mural Alley

Colorful mural of a bespectacled figure on wall.
This mural can be found in the alley across from The Chef in Manhattan, KS.

Manhattan is serving up inspiration with a side of breakfast. Just steps from The Chef in downtown Manhattan, KS, you’ll find an incredible mural paying tribute to the Notorious RBG herself, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Meet the Artists Bringing Big Inspiration to the Little Apple

This mural is the creative work of two talented local artists — Taylor Carr and Jessica Kerr — in collaboration with Manhattan Alliance for Peace and Justice (MAPJ) and the passion of community volunteers who rolled up their sleeves to bring this vision to life.

Taylor, a lifelong Kansan, proud K-State alum, and partner in ACME Local, saw an opportunity to leave a meaningful mark on a community she loves. And let me tell you — mission absolutely accomplished.

Where to Find the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Mural in MHK

📍 Location: In the alley directly across the street from The Chef in Downtown Manhattan, Kansas
🍳 Bonus: Grab breakfast first. The pancakes at The Chef are worth the wait — trust me!

The mural space was commissioned by Incite Manhattan, the powerhouse behind some of the most colorful and conversation-starting murals around town. If public art is your love language (same!), hop over to their website and take a peek at the other murals waiting to brighten your day.

Why This Mural Matters

There is so much happening in the world right now — big things, loud things, confusing things. But then, you turn a corner and see a piece of art like this… and suddenly, hope shows up.

This mural reminds us of what Justice Ginsburg lived out loud:
🟣 Justice matters
🟣 Gender equality matters
🟣 Community matters

And maybe most importantly — we can disagree without being disagreeable. (Ahem, channeling that legendary RBG + Scalia friendship!) We can hold our own beliefs and still stand shoulder-to-shoulder to build a better world.

A Community Thank You

Huge applause to Incite Manhattan, the artists, and every hand that helped make this mural possible. These public art projects are so much more than paint — they spark conversation, connection, and pride in the Little Apple.

So the next time you’re downtown, grabbing brunch or strolling to a game day tailgate, swing by and say hello to RBG. Snap a pic. Share the message. And remember — together, we can do pretty incredible things. 💜
