Manhattan, KS, and the surrounding Flint Hills are filled with easy, scenic hiking trails and nature walks perfect for families, casual explorers, and anyone who just wants a good view without the blisters. Grab your walking shoes (and maybe a coffee for the trail), and let’s explore some of the best low-key outdoor spots in the area.

  • Difficulty: Easy to moderate
  • Local tip: Go early in the morning or near sunset for cooler temps and dreamy views

This paved trail wraps around much of Manhattan and is perfect for walking, running, or biking. It’s flat, easy, and great for all ages.

  • Best spots: Anneberg Park to CiCo Park for leaf-peeping in the fall

Washington Marlatt Memorial Park

A peaceful, hidden gem with gentle grassy paths and big sky views. Bring your dog, bring your camera, and just breathe.

  • Distance: Approx. 1.5 miles
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Bonus: Rarely crowded and ideal for golden hour strolls

Warner Memorial Park

Quiet and shady with short walking paths and wildflowers in the spring and summer. It’s especially lovely when the trees start to change colors in the fall.

  • Distance: Less than a mile
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Great for: Quick after-work walks or intro hikes with kids
