A place you will frequently hear talked about is the Alma Creamery. The Alma Creamery was originally opened in 1946 and is still family-owned to this day! All of the cheese made at the creamery is made from milk produced at a local Kansas dairy! The factory where the cheese is produced is still located in Alma, KS, but the store has moved to the Plaza of the Flint Hills which is a travel plaza located right off I-70 at Exit 328!

I am not sure what is so addicting about the Alma Creamery cheese curds, but when I took a trip to their store one day I was thrilled to see so many flavors.

You can find several Alma Creamery products at local stores and even on the menus in restaurants. However, you will find so many more options in the Plaza store than you will find locally. I am not sure what is so addicting about the Alma Creamery cheese curds, but I was thrilled to see so many flavors the last time I went. One of the new additions at the plaza store is flavored cheese curds. You can take the classic Alma Cheese Curds and have them mixed with a variety of spices. In fact, I think I grabbed one of each. More is more, right??? However, the OG Buffalo and Garlic curds are still my favs!

The store also offers various kinds of block cheese that make great additions to charcuterie boards, or even as sandwich slices. Besides their traditional Cheddar Cheese, Colby Jack, and Mild Cheddar, you can also grab two other personal favorites, Pepper Jack or Bacon Jack! Bacon plus cheese, yes, please!

It also was a nice surprise to see how many additional products Alma Creamery carries. Many of the products are from other Kansas family-owned businesses!

It also was a nice surprise to see how many additional products Alma Creamery carries. Many of the brands are also Kansas family-owned businesses! I know not everyone can make the trip so for those of you, you can ALWAYS order online! When I was in the store I also learned that you can order gift boxes and have them shipped to family and friends! Who doesn't want that????

The new plaza store has widened the variety of cheeses that they are offering and expanded from the State of Kansas to cheeses from various places in the country. We even found some cheeses from upstate New York, so you know we were getting those!

If you want to make an afternoon of your trip head to the new store in the Plaza of the Flint hills and then head down to Alma! Drive past the Alma Creamery, then swing by the Alma Bakery and Sweet Shop, Mill Creek Mercantile, and another favorite, Pacheo Beef! In addition to sweets, the Alms bakery offers breakfast and lunch options. Follow their Facebook page for daily specials! For more information about Pacheo Beef, you can click here or, give them a follow on their Instagram! You can also shop online or in-store they offer local delivery options and can ship nationally! You can also follow their blog, Cooking With The Cowboy, for additional recipes and to learn more about the ranching in the Flint Hills!
