What I was not prepared for after purchasing this book was just how much "Dare to Dream" would affect my life. Dare to Dream is an absolutely phenomenal book written by local entrepreneur LaFarris Risby and if you just read this sentence you can safely assume, that I highly recommend it!
I stumbled upon this book in my Facebook newsfeed and I could not be more thankful that I did! It was late June and one afternoon I was passing the time scrolling Facebook, as many of us do. In one of the local Facebook groups, a member posted about a book she had just purchased which was written by a local author. The image of the book definitely caught my eye, but the title made me want to know more. Without even reading what the book was about I ordered, Dare to Dream: Overcoming life's obstacles and having the faith to believe the impossible is possible from Amazon!
If you look at my bookcases you would see I am a true collector of several motivational and inspirational books. What I did not realize and what I was not prepared for after purchasing this book was just how much "Dare to Dream" would affect my life. Dare to Dream is an absolutely phenomenal book written by local entrepreneur LaFarris Risby and if you just read this sentence you can safely assume, that I highly recommend it!
The book begins when the unthinkable happens, LaFarris's mother passed away when she was only six years old. Then at 15, she became a teenage mother who only a short time later would then become a young wife. Her journey takes her down a path where she encounters womanizers, and lives in an abusive relationship which ultimately leads to a divorce where she then finds herself at yet another crossroads.
While we all go through various challenges in life, reading how LaFarris reframed the situations and walked in her faith gave me so much peace. The will to keep going and keep the faith is truly inspiring, honestly, her faith is so much of the story.
While her life has been filled with many setbacks and seemingly impossible situations which would have caused most people to simply give up, not LaFarris Risby. Through her faith and perseverance, she has consistently found a way to overcome and reimagine not only herself but her legacy.
To me, this book read more like I was reading her personal journal. When her father told her that "you don't always see the impacts of your decisions" I heard my own dad's voice telling me a very similar sentiment. Later in the book, when LaFarris spoke about some unfortunate family situations and then her older sister's cancer diagnosis, I was hit even harder. While we all go through life challenges on various levels, reading how LaFarris reframed the situations and walked in her faith gave me so much peace. The will to keep going and keep the faith is truly inspiring, honestly, her faith is so much of the story.
As I read, I found myself wondering if this book did randomly appear in my newsfeed, and then as I kept reading I knew that it had not. There was absolutely nothing random about this book appearing. As a friend told me today, there are signs everywhere and that is so true, we all just need to have the faith to walk.
