Grandma's Hot Sausage Bites

A great recipe for a crowd, or meal prep! Grandma's Hot Sausage Bites are packed full of goodness!

When I found this recipe, I tried to remember whether we only had these at holidays, or if Grandma sometimes made these for breakfast. They are definitely something I could see that would be perfect for brunch, a potluck, or feeding a crowd like a Super Bowl party!

This recipe was super easy to mix, and as soon as they came out of the oven, we dug in. Even though they are good as is, we decided that a gravy or spicy mustard dipping sauce would really take them to the next level. That is the plan next time.

Scoops of unbaked cookie dough with visible chocolate chunks and nuts are arranged in rows on a parchment-lined baking sheet, just like Grandma's Sausage Bites lined up for a classic sausage appetizer.

Ingredients for Grandma's Hot Sausage Bites

  • 1/2 lb Ground sausage, browned and drained
  • 1.5 c Bisquick
  • 1 c Mild Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
  • 1/3 c water
  • 1 tsp Beef Bouillon

How to make Grandma's Hot Sausage Bites

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients.
  • Shape into balls
  • On a cookie sheet, place one inch apart
  • Bake 12-15 min, or until the edges are lightly browned.
  • Remove from the baking sheet, serve hot, and refrigerate any leftovers.

Tips

While the name says Grandma's "Hot" Sausage Bites, it's temp hot, not spicy hot. These are served hot out of the oven. To bump up the spice level, use spicy ground sausage!

Drop biscuits with visible bits of sausage and melted cheese are arranged on parchment paper, freshly baked with golden-brown tops and crispy edges—just like Grandma's Sausage Bites, a classic sausage appetizer everyone will love.
