Manhattan Day on June 1st in Manhattan, KS

Get Social With Purple Iris Everywhere!

Manhattan Day is supported by local businesses and organizations in Manhattan, KS to foster community in our neighborhoods and town!

This local event is a way to celebrate our vibrant community and began in 2000 by Ed and Ned Seaton. Over the years, Manhattan Day has grown into a beloved local tradition. Manhattan Day is a unique celebration where neighborhoods across town will host gatherings, from picnics and cookouts to block parties and barbecues. The event takes place on the first Saturday in June, commemorating the historical union of two settler groups in 1855 that formed Manhattan.

Since its inception, The Mercury has sponsored Manhattan Day, with additional support from the city government and Dillons. This year, The Mercury, shared that they will welcome additional event sponsors Manhattan Broadcasting, Wal-Mart, Chick-fil-A, and the Flint Hills Breadbasket.

The heart of Manhattan Day is the opportunity to reconnect with neighbors. In our busy, modern lives, it’s easy for us not to get to know our neighbors like we used to. This event is about fostering a sense of community in our neighborhoods and our town. Whether the event is big or small, the goal is the same, to bring people together.

Find details below and on The Mercury website then plan your neighborhood party! Make sure to message The Mercury and update them on your neighborhood events!
