There’s something downright magical about a Kansas sunset. The way the sky lights up in layers of orange, pink, and purple over the Flint Hills—it stops you in your tracks every time. And lucky for us, Manhattan has no shortage of dreamy spots to catch the show.
Whether you're a golden hour enthusiast, a casual stroller, or someone just looking for a little peace at the end of the day, here are my absolute favorite places to watch the sun go down in and around Manhattan, KS.
Let’s be honest—this one’s hard to beat. The overlook gives you wide open views across rolling hills that catch every last bit of sunlight.
It’s not just for first dates and graduation photos! The Manhattan Hill overlook is iconic for a reason. Watch the town light up as the sun dips behind it.
If you’re up for a little hike, the top of the main loop at Konza offers a stunning reward. Watching the sunset from up there is pure Kansas magic.
Water + sunset = heart eyes. Tuttle Creek has multiple spots to take in the view, but the overlook near the dam is especially lovely.
A lesser-known favorite, Marlatt Park, gives you grassy trails and uninterrupted views of the horizon. Peaceful and perfect.
Honestly, you can't go wrong watching the sunset anywhere in the Flint Hills. But these are the places I keep coming back to again and again. So grab a friend, your camera, or just your thoughts, and find a new favorite spot to soak in the Kansas sky.
