'Rescue' a mural in Clay Center, KS is adjacent to the entrance of the Clay Center Animal Rescue and Education Center. The mural depicts five of the over 1000 dogs rescued from the center.
If you know me, then you know that I am a HUGE animal lover! We grew up with animals, big and small, so when I heard about this mural I was super excited to see it! Then when I found out that the dogs on this mural represented dogs rescued from the center, I was in love with it!
'Rescued' was painted in 2021 by Whitney Kerr III, Ryan Estel, and Jeremy Bena. A Mural Movement Experience shares the names and information about the individual dogs on their website. Here is what they shared:
Left to Right:
CAPTAIN, an American Bull dog, big boy, big personality, a favorite of several volunteers.
CASTLE, an older dog, owner surrendered, lived at CCARE for almost one full year before finding a home.
GUMBO, a fun-loving, goofball, loved the attention from the volunteers and playing in the wading pools.
BIGGIE, (on the bottom) is another favorite, loved to play and pose for photos.
JOSIE, a Staffordshire mix, favorite among CCARE volunteers, very photogenic, also found on our long sleeve t-shirts and 2022 calendar.Â
