The Riley County Fair is held in Manhattan, KS at CICO Park. The fair is held from July 25th through July 29th. While many 4-H events have already taken place, for most, the fair kicks off on the 27th with the opening night of the WEEE Entertainment Carnival and the Kaw Valley Rodeo. This year's fair features traditional games, rides, and of course, food! Fairgoers can also enjoy all the additional activities and various 4-H showing competitions that will continue throughout the week and weekend in both the barns of the fairgrounds and Potroff Hall!
The Kaw Valley Rodeo begins on July 25th and runs through Saturday, July 27th. Night one of the Rodeo is, "Military Appreciation Night." Military and their family get in at a reduced rate, tickets are first-come, first-serve.
Friday night, July 26th, is "Tough Enough To Wear Pink," promoting cancer research. Each night they will host, "Pass The Boot" as a fundraising opportunity with all the funds donated to the Johnson Cancer Research Center.
Saturday, July 27th, is the final night for the rodeo, and will have the Brummett Award and Appreciate Recognition for all the individuals who do so much for the rodeo every year! You can follow the events of the Kaw Valley Rodeo on their Facebook page or the Kaw Valley Rodeo website.

It was fun to see the Midway lit up with all the food vendors serving their creations from the classic funnel cake to the over-the-top food, don't forget to try ALL the various fried candy bars! It is a tradition for me to get a funnel cake every year at the fair, there is just something about a funnel cake at the fair. On my way to get my funnel cake, I took a quick walk through the carnival area on my way to the midway, bringing back so many fun memories. There is something special about the sights and sounds of a county fair!
Attendees can also try their hand at traditional carnival games like Derby Time, Ring Toss, and more! You will also find several local organizations at the fair getting in on the fun and sharing information about the area and their businesses.
You also don't want to miss the 4-H Bake Sale on the 24th and 25th, the Schone Baking Contest, Pedal Tractor Pull, Fair Olympics, and Scenes of Riley County. Scenes from Riley County is an open class Photography Class focusing on Windmills in Riley County. The winning photo will receive a Blue Ribbon, all pictures must be taken in Riley County and include a description of the location on the back of the photo. For more information, you can reference the Riley County Fair Book.
Make sure to follow the events page on the Riley County Fair website for a complete schedule of events! They have some fun activities planned this year.
