Wamego, KS kicks off the Fourth of July celebrations on June 28th with the City Carnival located in Wamego's City Park!

On July 4th, things kick off EARLY! Stop by the Ball Diamonds to check out the Antique Tractor Show or the Walter P. Chrysler Car Show in the Park. The Carnival opens back up at 3 pm in the Wamego City Park and the parade begins at 6 pm. The parade lineup is HUGE, so head over to Lincoln Ave and get your spot ready to enjoy the Independence Day Parade, and don't forget to bring your goody bag.

For those looking to learn more about this event and also take a break from the heat, head to The Columbian for a showing of, "Behind the Fences." In 2018, cameras were placed inside the danger zone and documented the event from the Pyro Crews view.

The Wamego Fireworks Show starts at 10 pm and goes on until 10:35 pm. Once the Fireworks begin you will soon realize why they call Wamego, KS, BOOMTOWN!!

Now, the big decision, do you head back to the carnival, or get your spot ready for the show? There will be people who will begin staking out their "spots" several hours before the fireworks start in Wamego, KS! I remember the first year we went over, and it was unbelievable! There were groups of people strategically parking next to each other.

They set up their spaces with food and drinks in a mix between tailgating and mobile BBQs it was so fun to see everyone getting so excited for the same thing! For those unable, you can also find parking around town and hop on one of the shuttles to head down to the event. The fireworks start at 10 pm and go on until 10:35 pm. You will soon realize why they call Wamego, KS, BOOMTOWN!! Make sure you have a radio so you can tune in to B104.7.

Now, don't be in a rush to leave after the show. The traffic backs up pretty quickly, and you will hear people say ALL the ways they get home faster, but the best thing to do is spend a little bit more quality time with your families and friends! After all, that is what life is all about, and this will give you a perfect excuse to do just that!
