Update 5/16/24: Third Thursdays begin tonight on Poyntz Ave. in Downtown Manhattan, KS, and the theme this evening is, "Discover Downtown." There will be an interactive paint-by-number mural of Starry Might on the Stiffel Building. Then browse the artists and merchants as they display their jewelry, pottery, wood-turning, cross-stitch, and more! There will also be plenty of kids activities AJ's Pizza will have a Brain Station, or kiddos can play some Bug Bingo with the Sunset Zoo in their area, or enjoy a sidewalk chalk station, and of course, the crowd favorite the Bourbon & Baker’s Cake Walk! Several Downtown Businesses will also be offering various activities and sale in their stores so make sure to check them out!
Posted July 18th, 2022 Beginning in May, something exceptional begins in Downtown Manhattan, KS, It is called, Third Thursdays! While some of you might not have heard of "Third Thursdays," I am here to tell you will want to put it on your schedule! As I mentioned, Third Thursdays begins in May and runs through September from 5 pm to 8 pm, I am sure it is no surprise, it's every Thursday.
Third Thursdays are truly a community event! The unique mixture of arts, local talents, music, food, and most of all, fun! Each week attendees are treated to various performers, food, activities, music, and more! Coming up on this week's Third Thursday, you will find things like Flight Risk, these ladies are the Aerial troupe from Little Apple Pilates Co.! Come watch as they perform on the aerial silk and hoop display! Terry Remple with Hands-on Pottery, Ann Warren will be offering Henna, Missy Burke will have her Polymere clay earrings on display, candles, mixed media art and I promise you so much more! You know our Downtown Manhattan merchants join in the Third Thursday fun! Every week check online to see the variety of specials on food and drinks, sales, giveaways, and an opportunity to learn about new products!
Now if you know our downtown businesses you know they are also joining in the fun! On the 21st, you can stop by G. Thomas Jewelers and be entered into a drawing, grab a drink and produce at Manhattan Brewing Company, or shop various sales and drink specials. For those who want to enjoy Christmas in July stop by AJ's patio and think of cooler months with the Festival of Lights crew! Santa is even stopping by for those early Christmas wishes!!
One of the things I am really excited to attend is at Furnish and it is their Sit & Sip event. When I was in the store a few weeks ago I noticed a spilled glass on their WHITE display couch. At first, I thought "OH NO," then I realized that it was a fake wine glass and was there to advertise their new sustainable fabrics and spill-proof fabrics! As a family with pets who enjoy dinner and a movie on their couch, this could be a game-changer!
