My Grandma's Cranberry Salad was a staple at all holiday gatherings! It is seriously loved by everyone. What makes it even better if you are the person cooking is that it can be made ahead and frozen!

Since we are deep into Thanksgiving prep I thought I would share another favorite family recipe from my grandma's recipe box, her Cranberry Salad! I totally understand what cranberry salad is, or what Cranberry Salad should be is a hotly debated topic, but in our family, this is the Cranberry Salad that was always on our holiday table with my Grandma!

As far back as I can remember whenever my grandma made this I never ate it! I am not a huge cranberry fan, or at least I wasn't when I was a kid. Now as an adult I look back, and I totally regret that I didn't try it. First, my Grandma was a total sugar lover so I should have known it would not be super tart. The second reason is simple, she was an amazing home cook so I am sure it would have been delicious.

When I was going through my grandma's recipes I was looking for what could easily be made ahead and checked off my Thanksgiving prep list. When I found this recipe I knew it was perfect for freezing so Cranberry Salad it is! I decided I would just wait to mix in the chopped nuts and marshmallows before serving, but other than that, this is a make-it-and-freeze-it dish.

I did set some aside prior to freezing and tried it before I took it home for Thanksgiving and I must say, it is delicious! I think that says a lot coming from someone who NEVER adds Cranberry Salad to her plate. LOL I did measure the marshmallows and walnuts with my heart, so there was probably a little more in my salad than the recipe calls for, but go with what feels right for you! Enjoy!
