Easy and Delicious Hot Rolls

These easy and delicious hot rolls are a staple in our house. They are easy to make, perfect to freeze, and are some of the best hot rolls I have ever had!

When I wasn't feeling well a friend sent me a Spoonful of Comfort box. The box came with Chicken and Wild Rice soup, mac and cheese, cookies, and homemade Bacci dinner rolls. The soup and mac and cheese were really good, but for us, the real star of the box was the dinner rolls. Both my husband and I commented on how good they were.

The box said that the recipe for the rolls was from the owner of the company, Marti's, grandmother. The insert said that Marti's grandmother would always have these Bacci rolls ready for guests when they came. Well, they must have had guests 24/7 because those rolls were delicious!

Since I knew that we were going to need more dinner rolls in our lives, and I could safely assume they were not going to share their recipe, I decided to go to my grandma's recipe box to see what I could find. Thankfully, I found one recipe for hot rolls. I decided to try it and see, it is not a Bacci Roll recipe, but these rolls are just as good.

Like many other recipes in my grandma's recipe box, this was clipping from a newspaper. This recipe was from a lady who lived near Beloit, KS. I loved reading this short write-up, Drusillia must have been a phenomenal cook to have multiple recipes in the newspaper one after the other. After I read she was the immediate past president of the Kansas Young Farm Wives, I found myself wondering what age Drusillia was when this was published.

I love seeing these recipes in my grandmother's recipe box. These are family recipes with history in every single one of them. It also makes me wonder what these women would think of how many of us get recipes today. The newspaper was their Google, with no ratings or reviews, this was how they shared the best recipes with others.

Since we were going to enjoy some beautiful bison steaks from Flint Hills Bison Company, it seemed like the perfect time to bake a batch of Drusillia's hot rolls, bake a potato, and test this recipe.

Spring forward a week and I have made this recipe twice! Yes, these rolls are that good! In addition to the taste, this recipe was very easy to make. My "rolling" skills might need some work, but I do not doubt that I will be getting a lot of practice with this recipe!

I hope you enjoy Drusillia's recipe as much as we have, for me, it's from the land of Kansas and there is nothing better than that.
