The History of Aggieville

Aggieville’s story begins with Kansas State University.

As the university grew in the early 20th century, businesses naturally developed nearby to serve students and faculty. Restaurants, shops, and gathering places began to cluster just off campus, creating what would eventually become the district now known as Aggieville.

Over the decades, Aggieville evolved into one of the most recognizable college entertainment districts in the Midwest. While businesses have changed and buildings have been renovated, the heart of the district has remained the same: a place where the K-State and Manhattan, KS, community gathers.

Many Manhattan residents have their own Aggieville memories—late-night meals, celebrating K-State victories, or simply walking through the district on a busy Saturday night. Aggieville has always been more than just a collection of businesses.

It’s part of Manhattan’s story.

Best Restaurants in Aggieville

Aggieville is home to some of the most beloved restaurants in Manhattan, Kansas.

The variety of food options makes it easy to find something, whether you're stopping in for a quick bite or settling in for a full meal before a K-State game.

Taco Lucha has become famous for its bold flavors, creative tacos, and unforgettable burgers. Appetizer is the Trifecta. You can also order the bean dip here, or if it is a table full of us, we order both! Then my tacos of choice are fish, jap razz, and the black and blue. If it's tues, then I am going to get one peanut butter taco. If I am taking someone there for their first time, I am also going to share the Taco Lucha Secret Menu!

So Long Saloon is another Aggieville favorite, known for its laid-back atmosphere and menu that blends Southwestern influences with classic comfort food. My go-to order is the appetizer Bean Dip, then The Crank it Up and Head South Burger, no pico with a side of fries. It is perfect every single time!

Full Circle Diner and Cocktails is a newer restaurant in Aggieville. Their breakfast and brunch menu is filled with great options. My favorite is their Classic Bennie, and a cinnamon roll to share. Soon they will be opening for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, so make sure to keep an eye on their Facebook page for more on that!

Nico's Little Italy is the sister restaurant to a Kansas staple in Salina, Martinelli's Little Italy. Nico's is obviously serving up some amazing pasta dishes, but my order is their filet with a side of pasta! I know steak might not be your first thought at an Italian restaurant, but trust me, it's one of the best in town. Then, a cannoli, because obviously!

These and many other restaurants help make Aggieville one of the best places to eat in Manhattan.
