Making homemade candy goes hand in hand with the holidays for our family. We have a few recipes, but this one was my Aunt Kay's. A fun tradition to start with your family, or a special treat to give as a gift!
Stir until sugar dissolves. As soon as the sugar dissolves stop stirring.
Once mixture comes to a boil either insert candy thermometer or get a glass of water like in the recipe and test mixture until it is in the hard crack stage.
Then add the coloring and oil of choice and stir until combined.
Either pour mixture onto a baking sheet or into molds.
If pouring onto cookie sheets, follow directions on the recipe card.
Once the candy has cooled, either break apart or remove from molds and place into bags or container.
